Drinks guide for your Wedding Day
19th April, 2017
We thought we would put together a little guide to give you some new ideas on the different options that are out there for drinks throughout your wedding day
It is nice to welcome your guests to the wedding reception with a glass of something; the choices are endless! Aside from the traditional fizz, you could try a fruity cocktail for a beautiful summer wedding or a warm spicy mulled drink for a cosy winter wedding. Gin is very on trend for this year and our favourite cocktail at the moment is a gin and elderflower fizz…. Guests tend to have a couple of drinks pre-dinner often couples choose to provide one alcoholic drink per guest plus some soft options combined with the bar open.
As everyone’s tastes vary so widely, it can make it difficult to decide on table wines. There are a few things you can do to try to get around this problem:
Choose popular wines that are likely to appeal to most palates – take advice from your venue! We will be more than happy to talk you through the wine list and help you decide which are going to be most suited to your guests and menu choices. Come along to a wine tasting– at Quex park we invite our clients along to our Wedding Showcase days to sample the wine list and chat with our very knowledgeable wine merchant about the various options and also details are chatted through on final details meeting.. We recommend 1/2 a bottle of wine per guest for the wedding breakfast taking into account some guests drink more than others!
If you know your party has a lot of beer drinkers amongst them why not try a bucket of bottled beers as well a bottle or two of well-liked wines on the tables…. we have been spending time on pinterest follow the links for more inspiration!
Drinks tokens, redeemable at the bar – are a nice way to treat your guest to a drink of their choosing. This could be used as a wedding favour also!
Have no drinks on the table! Let your guests make use of the fully stocked bar! If you are not wine drinkers this is an option- you can always put money behind the bar or use the drinks tokens favours but do allow a little extra time as there will be a rush to the bar as the reception starts.
There are lots of options for something a bit more quirky: Why not match a welcoming cocktail to your colour scheme or even rename it! or how about have an aging wheelbarrow full of bottled beers to complement your chic vintage theme
Have a “pimp your prosecco” stand – allow your guests to flavour their prosecco to taste with different fruits, syrups or spirits
Non-alcoholic options are not to be forgotten. If some of your guests don’t or are unable to drink, it is nice for them to still feel involved; so why not have look – a – like mocktail option to replace the alcoholic cocktails or a sparkling elderflower drink for a prosecco or champagne substitute
